White is a safe bet in many bedrooms. Its feeling of visual spaciousness and neatness make it a good option for painting walls and furniture in houses, especially those with few square meters. However, surrendering to pure white without thinking twice can work against us more than it seems.
Think about it, a cosy bedroom that invites you to rest should convey relaxation and seclusion, and in this sense, white can flood your space with depersonalisation and coldness. Something that, however, we can avoid by using other warmer tones that help balance comfort in our room.

“White is the worst option for your bedroom, better use this,” introduces the architect and designer Pedro Lirola in one of his recent videos on his Instagram account @pedrolirola. In this way, you will be able to “rest better and have a magazine bedroom”, he adds.
Below, we show you the three recommendations of the expert to avoid white and paint your bedroom in warm tones that promote rest. From the color of the walls to the decorations and deco touches. Everything will be in perfect harmony in your bedroom. Don’t miss it and take note!
- 1. Warm beige, off-white and light wood

The architect’s first proposal is perfect for lovers of light tones who still doubt whether it is a good idea to get rid of white in their bedroom. With a combination of warm beige, off-white and light wood, the result is a pleasant space full of “calm, sophistication and elegance”, explains the designer.
In the idea that Lirola shows, the warm beige walls complement perfectly with the off-white of the bedding and curtains. In addition, the light wood tones give a more rustic and cozy touch to deco elements, such as the sloping chair next to the bed or the wicker rug on which it rests.
2. Olive green with sand and off-white

Finally, this colour palette breathes a style “with a lot of harmony and a natural touch“, says the architect. A wild touch that combines perfectly with rustic furniture, such as those that Lirola exhibits in his proposal.
Although it may seem somewhat dark, an olive green on the walls conveys tranquility and well-being if combined with warm tones of sand and off-white in bedding and other deco elements, such as plant pots, bedside lamps or a dream catcher hanging on the wall.
